Today it rained.

Paw Patrol played in the background as I jotted down a list for the day and sipped on a cup of chai that had already been reheated twice.  Cam babbled in the pack ‘n play and Ayden proudly announced that all of the tinkle went in the potty this time.  My life.  Mundane and magical.  I scooped Cam up and gave him about a million kisses on our way upstairs for nap time.  A quick diaper change and one (or two) more kisses later and I was headed back down to my best friend.  I could hear the frustration before I rounded the corner.  He was desperately trying to pull on his boots.  I needed to do laundry.  I needed to clean up toys.  I needed to unload and load the dishwasher.  But I grabbed my raincoat and camera, poured my tea down the drain, and headed out the back door.  There were puddles to inspect, calls to make, and a glider that needed to do some gliding.  Serious business.  The list would have to wait.  Because we don’t get enough time for just us.  Because everything would be there when I returned.  Because I want him to remember the laughter and not the laundry.

Because today it rained.
