There are some things you only do with me. And some things you only do with your dad. This one is a daddy thing. When he gets home at night, the two of you like to make a little tent fort and watch videos on the iPad. Your favorite? Acapella performances 🙂 Last month we watched “The Sing Off” and the two of you have been hooked ever since.

I started this 365 project for two reasons. 1) to document the fleeting moments of our little family and 2) to grow as a photographer. For 16 days, I have stayed within my comfort zone. In the late afternoon, our kitchen has very hard, direct light that comes in before the sun sets. You love to play in that light but I have never wanted to deal with the seemingly undesirable shadows. Today, on day 17, I sat with my camera, watching you play and waiting. I watched how the light fell on you and your little truck, how every once in a while your face would be free from the shadows, how the lines streamed across the counter pointing at your small moment, how the pockets of light created shapes around you. And then I snapped. Today, on day 17, is when I will start to grow. This photo is far from perfect, but I think its a perfect start.

Another cold, rainy day here in Virginia. The perfect kind of day for pajamas, snuggles, and driving cars up and down the window sills.

You and your daddy picked out some fun apps for you on the ipad. Today you played a game where you got to make a little monster (well, we’re not really sure what he is) play different musical instrucments. It amazes me how good you are at swiping to the next page at 22 months old. It also scares me a little. NOTE: you pretty much always have a few little figurines (animals, bubble guppies, sesame street friends, anyone tiny) with you during the day. Today was no exception.

The other day your dad had his chin in his hands at the table. You tried it out and had a little giggle to yourself. This is how I found you watching Sesame Street today. You are a daddy-mini-me.
Maureen King - Megan – love the iPad concentration and his seating position in the couch – too sweet.
